Pilgrimage to Our Survival

A Race, we must win for our children, our future. Today, we certainly can not find a corner of the Globe, which is immune to the impact of climate change. It is hardly a matter of years, we will experience it in our daily lives in form of severe drought, extreme weather, food shortages, water wars, worsening air quality. It is not only happening at a pace faster than anticipated by the scientific community but also is accelerating as we delay in concrete action and nations involves in a tug-of-war at global geopolitical forums. The warmest seven-year post-industrial revolution has been the last seven years on record back to back, we need no more indicators to gauge the mess, we are embarking upon.

We must realize every economical instrument we have, be it economy, currencies, or reserves. Each one inherits its empirical value from the possession and transaction of goods and services (food, energy, or other commodities) provided by the nature, the ecosystem. What climate change is doing is altering the conditions under which Nature keeps functioning smoothly and keep providing these goods and services, like engine of growth. In advent of severe climate change, this engine is going to lose its efficiency, producing less. Thus hampering our growth, making us poorer day be day, ultimately all our social, economical and future aspirations endangered.

I have been reading predictions of the future by those who believe they can predict what the world of tomorrow is going to be like. In all cases, the future of which they speak is merely a grotesque extension of the present

— Rene Dubos, New York Times 1982

What do we do?

It is not only a race, which we must win, it is also a race- we can win together, bit by bit, brick by brick. We are a group of post-graduate researchers in India, we are working on developing a model about adaptations to climate change and ecosystem restoration. As the world is gearing up to foray into the arena of various climate funds, climate finance. These funds are generally centralized and follow a top-to-bottom model of implementation. So we are working on the model, that such funds might be allocated efficiently and targeted manner to address the intended issues with minimum leakage and maximum impact. Leakage is when funds are allocated uniformly among administrative units, whether intervention is required in a particular locality or not. For this purpose, we have selected one of the largest wetlands in India, full of constraints (economical, social, and socio-economic) such as people making living thereon 1.33 USD/day average some.

Any model developed in a constrained environment has a higher likelihood of working elsewhere also with few modifications (As if you can win a race on one leg, then undoubtedly you can win with both legs)

What do we mean for You?

Apart from an update from our works, we would be also posting about such little effort being made elsewhere to win this race for humanity together.

Also, we request sponsorship and support for ourselves, as the study area to develop this model is very large, we selected intentionally to have huge data set to arrive at patterns, so that a flawless and efficient working model could be framed out.

Every effort, little or big anywhere matters a lot, same as a single spark can turn into wildfire. Anything happening on our planet anywhere transcends the whole Earth, whether positive or negative.

Let us fight this crisis together and win this race for our future self. Welcome to the family!!!
